Alcorn Central has gone a perfect 3-0 against New Albany recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Alcorn Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Wheeler. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since March 14th.
Sydnee Norman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Journey Phillips, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adysen Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Albany, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Independence 11-1 on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
New Albany also got a great performance from Allie Ozbirn as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Zakathryn Cameron was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-2. Laken Gordon was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
New Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Alcorn Central and bumps their season record up to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for New Albany, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Alcorn Central's way against New Albany in their previous meeting back in March, as Alcorn Central made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
