Locust Fork took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 45-14 victory over the Oneonta Redskins.
"Dino" Dylan Embry had a dynamite game for Locust Fork, rushing for 270 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 126 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Dylan Embry really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. Levi White was another key player, picking up 58 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Locust Fork was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 474 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Locust Fork's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Landon "Lando" Keith, Jackson Wiley, and Dante Murray picked up one apiece. "Lando" Keith also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception. Another thorn in Oneonta's side was Ammon Brazeel, who made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Locust Fork will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Ohatchee on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games. As for Oneonta, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Cherokee County at 7:00 p.m. on September 6th.
