Softball Recap: Fairmont Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fairmont barely beat Miamisburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-1 win on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Firebirds as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jaylin Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlee Netherton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hannah Perdue, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Fairmont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.

Fairmont's record now sits at 11-6. As for Miamisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Fairmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
