5A Region IV District 32 recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Veterans Memorial, who took down 574th ranked Veterans Memorial, 24-19.
Harlingen moved up to 627 from 685 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region IV District 32. The Cardinals were able to make move up by defeating the Chargers 24-19.
Jonmichael Rosales and Jonmichael Rosales gave Los Fresnos a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Rosales threw for 186 yards and five touchdowns, while Rosales ran for 100 yards. Teammate William Cox added to the ground attack by rushing for 78 yards.
Nick Garcia was the best wideout in the league this week as Harlingen South bested Rivera. Garcia racked up three receptions for 132 yards. Kyle Collins helped Harlingen South's passing attack out by catching one ball for 29 yards.
Kristian Rodriguez made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Hawks beat the Raiders. The junior racked up one sack.
On the ground, Harlingen South's Jaedon Taylor has rushed for 918 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Garcia. The Harlingen South star has 27 catches for 544 yards.
Lanny Wilson's team's Taylor needs only 82 yards against Lopez next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 5A Region IV District 32 this week will be when the Falcons take on Veterans Memorial. At the moment, Los Fresnos is in first, while David Cantu's team is in third.
Clint Finley's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Falcons defeated Pace 58-0.
