After a string of ten wins, the Locust Fork Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cold Springs. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Locust Fork has scored all season.
Locust Fork's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Evans, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Hope Evans was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Locust Fork struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Cold Springs to victory were Ella Bruer and Ella Dickerson. Bruer scored 12 points, while Dickerson scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Malaya Taylor, who scored seven points.
Locust Fork's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3. As for Cold Springs, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Locust Fork will face off against Cleveland at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cleveland is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Cold Springs' road trip will continue as they head out to face Southeastern at 5:15 p.m. on January 11th. Southeastern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Cold Springs is ranked 21st).
