It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Eastbrook Panthers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They snuck past the Bruins with a 62-58 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Morrison, who scored 32 points. Morrison has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last three times she's played. Olivia Howell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Blackford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Wicker, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnee Morris, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Eastbrook is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season. As for Blackford, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.
Eastbrook and the Bulldogs will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lapel sitting on five straight victories and the Panthers on three. Blackford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
