The Green Valley Gators will challenge the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Green Valley has five straight wins, Basic has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Green Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Otay Ranch on Thursday. The Gators put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 9-3 victory.

Jet McNelis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Green Valley got a big performance out of Maddix Kaye, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Kaye a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Van Ness, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Basic came up short against Arcadia on Thursday and fell 10-5.
Basic also got a good showing from Esty Gonzalez, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gonzalez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Lyndon Lee made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Troy Southisene was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Green Valley's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Basic, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Green Valley couldn't quite get it done against Basic in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-0. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
