Crest is 9-1 against Oswego since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Crest Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Oswego Indians at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Crest came up short against Northeast and fell 43-35.
Crest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rogan Weir, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Ryan Golden who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of Crest's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Drake Weir, who scored two points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Oswego's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 44-27 fall against Jayhawk Linn. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oswego has scored all season.
Oswego's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alex Long, who scored four points along with nine rebounds, and Owen Jackson who scored nine points.
Oswego struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jayhawk Linn posted 11 assists.
Crest now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Oswego, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Golden and Tanner O'neal. Golden has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 17.4 points, 1.3 blocks, and 10.3 rebounds. For his part, O'neal has averaged 11.8 points, 2.5 steals, and 4.4 rebounds.
Everything came up roses for Crest against Oswego in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 61-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crest since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
