After a string of three wins, the Morrill Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-25 loss at the hands of Bridgeport. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Morrill has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Morrill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Teige Whetham. Despite the final result, he scored four points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Whetham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.
Morrill struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Kolby Lussetto, who scored 15 points along with three steals for Bridgeport. Lussetto has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Dean, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Morrill's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Bridgeport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morrill will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bridgeport, they will be playing at home against the Trailblazers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Torrington is ranked 51st in Wyoming, while the Bulldogs are ranked 56th in Nebraska).
