The Jeffersonville Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the Brownsburg Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brownsburg took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Jeffersonville, who comes in off a win.
Jeffersonville took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past North Knox 67-64.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Kelis Dansby and Brynna Collins. Dansby had a great game and went 9 for 16 on her way to 24 points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Collins did her best for the losing side, putting up 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Brownsburg faced Lawrence North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Brownsburg was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Lawrence North. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Jeffersonville will have to contain Avery Gordon as she made an impact in Brownsburg's last game. She dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laniah Walkine, who posted four points.
Even though they lost, Brownsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.
Jeffersonville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Brownsburg, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jeffersonville has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.8 boards.
