Catholic waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Central Wildcats as they made off with an 8-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Thursday.

Lucas Lawrence spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Andrew Clapinski was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Miles Auxt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Catholic pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.

Catholic and Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. Catholic will face off against St. Martin's Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on Monday up 129 places (3 vs. 132). Meanwhile, Central (ranked 27th) will meet Liberty Magnet (ranked 194th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
