The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to square off against the Dawson School Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Creek is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses.
Clear Creek struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Gilpin County had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Clear Creek had to suffer through a rough 54-19 loss at the hands of Gilpin County. While losing is never fun, Clear Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Gilpin County is ranked 146th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elizabeth Rooney, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerah Fulton, who scored no points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Dawson School suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 52-30 loss at the hands of Gilpin County. Dawson School has not had much luck with Gilpin County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Dawson School, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Clear Creek was dealt a bruising 48-11 loss at the hands of Dawson School in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Clear Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
