Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Sullivan-Okaw Valley/Bethany Redskins, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-21 walloping at the hands of Mt. Carmel on Saturday. Sullivan-Okaw Valley/Bethany was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Sullivan-Okaw Valley/Bethany's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Christensen, who threw for 301 yards and a touchdown, and Aiden Ballinger who picked up 176 receiving yards. Kyle Corkill also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Mt. Carmel was led to victory by Asher Kight and Blayne Sisson. Kight rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while Sisson rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Sisson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Sullivan-Okaw Valley/Bethany's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Mt. Carmel, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Sullivan-Okaw Valley/Bethany does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mt. Carmel will face off against Tolono Unity at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Tolono Unity's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six games.
