Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) grabbed the lead when
Sam Sasso thew a touchdown to
Frankie Bueno with 11:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Pinnacle (Phoenix, Ariz.) 24-20 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
The Huskies led 7-3 at halftime, but the Pioneers regained the lead on a touchdown run with less than a minute remaining in the third.
By the end of the third, Hamilton found itself trailing by three points as Pinnacle captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. PHS scored on a rushing touchdown and a touchdown run in the quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Pinnacle, which notched a 49-10 victory over Millennium in its previous outing. The win brought Hamilton's winning streak to three games. The loss snapped Pinnacle's two-game winning streak.
In a non-conference game next week Hamilton (3-0) takes on Liberty, and Pinnacle (2-1) will go up against Basha also in a non-conference game.
