The Sutter Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Casa Roble Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Sutter only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 50-point they dealt Lindhurst on Friday. Sutter breezed by Lindhurst at home to the tune of 76-26. Given Sutter's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Lindhurst is ranked 1374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sutter had a senior duo take command as Naseem Bhatti scored 12 points and Diego Belmonte scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Belmonte has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Ward, who scored eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Casa Roble gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Woodland 89-48 at home. Casa Roble pushed the score to 62-39 by the end of the third, a deficit Woodland had little chance of recovering from.
Casa Roble relied on the efforts of Benny Ambriz, who scored 17 points along with three steals, and Ace Villegas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Ambriz is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 21 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Scott, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Casa Roble used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Woodland. And. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Edgar Rocha scored three points, while he scored eight points.
Sutter is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Casa Roble, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sutter have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Casa Roble struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sutter didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Casa Roble in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 70-66 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sutter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
