The Palma Chieftains will head out to take on the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Palma took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over North Monterey County.
Sophia Marquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Analysia Rocha, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Rocha is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Amaral, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over North Monterey County.
Sam Zimmerman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Zoe Rodriguez was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Nava, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Ann Sobrato was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Palma's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ann Sobrato, their record is now 3-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Palma has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ann Sobrato struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
