The Fort Thomas Apaches came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Cicero Prep Academy by a score of 67-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Fort Thomas to victory were Damare Dosela and Channing Wilson. Dosela scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Wilson scored 23 points along with four steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyle Secody, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Fort Thomas pushed their record up to 22-7 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Cicero Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
Fort Thomas will be playing at home against the Yeti at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Basis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Apaches like a good challenge. As for Cicero Prep Academy, they and the Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Desert Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
