The Riverside-Durham Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Chapel Hill Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside-Durham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
Riverside-Durham will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Cary, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Pirates walked away with an 8-3 win over the Imps on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Grace Arrington made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grayson Knotts, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paris Chavis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Jordan hit Chapel Hill with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 14-4 to the Falcons. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Iris O'Brien made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and earned two runs and two stolen bases. Abby Klemm was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Riverside-Durham pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Chapel Hill's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverside-Durham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for Chapel Hill, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Riverside-Durham's hitters?
Riverside-Durham came out on top in a nail-biter against Chapel Hill in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
