Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison). They blew past the Mitchell Mountaineers 22-4 on Tuesday. Considering the Patriots have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Carrie Gunter made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Eleura Clark, who went 5-for-6 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those five hits gave Clark a new career-high. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
