Ridgeline is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Park City is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Riverhawks will welcome the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Ridgeline is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since March 17th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Syracuse 5-3.
Ben Thompson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cooper Clark was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Park City). Everything went their way against Stansbury on Friday as they made off with an 18-6 win. Considering the Miners have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Royal Matthews, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Dewitt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Park City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stansbury only posted an OBP of .333.
Park City is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Ridgeline, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ridgeline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Park City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ridgeline couldn't quite finish off Park City when the teams last played back in May of 2018 and fell 3-1. Will the Riverhawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
