The Casa Grande Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell 59-47 to Higley. While losing is never fun, Casa Grande can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Higley is ranked 30th).
Higley was led to victory by Luke Haugo and Noah Gloor. Haugo dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Gloor scored 23 points along with seven assists. That's the first time this season that Haugo pulled down eight or more rebounds. Donovan Dabney was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Casa Grande has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Higley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casa Grande will take on Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Higley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Williams Field is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
