There's no place like home for the Lee Volunteers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Reagan 71-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lee's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Ramirez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rosanelly Pastrano, who scored 18 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Several Rattlers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joana Lopez, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Renata Parga was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Lee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. As for Reagan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee will challenge Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Lee is ranked 172nd). As for Reagan, they will head out on the road to square off against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
