Basketball Recap: High Tech SD Takes a Loss

High Tech SD was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crawford Colts. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while the Colts are ranked 475th).

When it comes to explaining why High Tech SD lost, don't look at Sebastian Blackaller. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Blackaller is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Hiro Nakamura was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, High Tech SD smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawford only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crawford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yasir Abdurahman, who posted 15 points along with six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Monroy, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.

High Tech SD's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Crawford, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High Tech SD will square off against Kearny at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. High Tech SD is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Crawford, they will face off against Clairemont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Clairemont's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
