Even though the Manti Templars scored an imposing 69 points on Tuesday, the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs still came out on top. Crimson Cliffs came out on top in a nail-biter against Manti and snuck past 72-69. The victory was all the more spectacular given Crimson Cliffs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Manti is ranked ninth).
Crimson Cliffs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Johnson, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Johnson posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Felts, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Crimson Cliffs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Manti, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Crimson Cliffs will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Ridgeline at 9:00 p.m. on December 14th. Ridgeline will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Manti, they will head out on the road to face off against Pine View at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
