Pike dropped their record down to 9-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves by a score of 5-3. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Pike saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Sigmund, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's side, Isaiah Frank made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Frank has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Nick Sobek was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Will Clippinger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Pike will head out on the road to square off against Lawrence North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-6 victory against Southport on the 10th.
