Softball Recap: Cape Fear Starts Season with Win on the Road

Cape Fear had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over the Triton Hawks on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

McKinley Kolasa made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Kolasa was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Karalina Tomasic looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Amari Adams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 5-for-5. Another player making a difference was Allie Dawson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Cape Fear always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triton only posted an OBP of .172.

Triton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Cape Fear has already played their next game, a 22-0 victory against St. Pauls on the 28th. As for Triton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-9 win against Purnell Swett on the 28th.
