St. Croix Lutheran extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nova Classical Academy Knights. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 12-4.
St. Croix Lutheran saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Nova Classical Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 3-7 record. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Nova Classical Academy's side, James Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Williams posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Nova Classical Academy is 2-1 when Williams posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Preston Karelitz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Mikko Newman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Croix Lutheran will take on Liberty Classical Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nova Classical Academy, they will head out to challenge St. Croix Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
