The Broadwater Academy Vikings will take on the Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Broadwater Academy has seven straight wins, Atlantic Shores Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Broadwater Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Arcadia.
Not much got past Ramsey Revelle, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Arcadia off the board. Revelle has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miranda Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Shores Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Christchurch School on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Seahorses by a score of 5-4.
Alyssa Marraccini was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 7.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Marraccini was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Marraccini wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Broadwater Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Broadwater Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like Atlantic Shores Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Broadwater Academy took their win against Atlantic Shores Christian in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
