The Nottoway Cougars lost against the Greensville County Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Nottoway took a serious blow against Greensville County, falling 73-45. While losing is never fun, Nottoway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Greensville County is ranked 102nd).
Despite the loss, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: Anton Carter Jr. dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Carter Jr. has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of D'aunte Watson, who scored four points.
Nottoway's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Greensville County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nottoway will take on Amelia County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greensville County, they will play host again and welcome Sussex Central, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
