Southwestern recap September 4, 2013
Chandler Woodward of Murrieta Mesa ran for the longest rushing play in Southwestern this season against Jurupa Hills last week. Woodward scampered for 71 yards on the play and finished with 82 on the day as his team topped the Spartans.
Murrieta Valley was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in the league. The Nighthawks defeated Temescal Canyon 21-10 earlier in the week.
Murrieta Mesa's dynamic duo of Peyton Uhl and Davian Neitz proved to be unstoppable against Jurupa Hills, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Uhl threw for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns and Neitz had 141 yards receiving. Bryan Phan helped Murrieta Mesa's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 88 yards.
Justin J. Schaeffer's team's dynamic duo of Uhl and Neitz proved tough for Edward Mcmillon's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Uhl put up the best numbers through the air as the Rams defeated the Spartans.
Michael Robles was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 126 yards on 18 carries as Murrieta Valley topped Jurupa Hills. Teammate Jordan Silva added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
He went 19-32 with 0 interceptions.
Neitz was the best receiver in Southwestern this week as the Rams defeated the Spartans.
Murrieta Mesa's Uhl and Neitz have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Uhl has thrown for 275 yards this season, while Neitz, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 7 catches for 141 yards. Robles from Vinny Fazio's team leads the league in rushing with 126 yards.
Great Oak fell to Carlsbad 41-17 last week, the largest margin of any game.
