With a playoff game on the line, the Centreville Academy Tigers rose to the challenge on Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Central Hinds Academy 44-43. The win was familiar territory for Centreville Academy who now have four in a row.
Centreville Academy was led to victory by John Austin Sterling and Parker Nettles. Sterling picked up 147 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Nettles threw for 308 yards and six touchdowns. Nettles has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Despite the loss, Central Hinds Academy still got an impressive performance from Brady Clark, who rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Mccoy was in the mix too, providing Central Hinds Academy with two touchdowns.
Centreville Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Central Hinds Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Centreville Academy will face off against Tri-County Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-County Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Centreville Academy in Mississippi (Tri-County Academy is ranked 46th, while Centreville Academy is ranked 155th). Central Hinds Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
