Moriah has been on the road for five straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Peru Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Last Tuesday, Moriah didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Red Storm, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory. Given Moriah's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Red Storm are ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cooper Allen, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Joe Pelkey, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Peru had to suffer through a rough 70-43 loss at the hands of the Bobcats. Peru has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Moriah's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Peru, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Moriah against the Nighthawks in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-30 win. Does Moriah have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Nighthawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
