Baseball Recap: Valencia Takes a Loss

After flying high against Highland on Tuesday, Valencia came back down to earth. The Jaguars lost 11-5 to the Belen Eagles on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 22-11 defeat back in April.

Noah Vigil and Pryce Henry did some serious damage despite the final result: Vigil went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Henry got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Henry is becoming a predictor of Valencia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ancel Rossell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Valencia has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Belen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Valencia nor Belen have any future games scheduled.
