Baseball Recap: Inderkum Takes a Loss

Inderkum extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lodi Flames. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Flames from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Travis Outing Jr. was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jaylen Dawson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Inderkum is 3-1 when Dawson posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Lamont Bufford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Lodi, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Lodi's side, they let Chase Whiting and Rylan Takahashi run wild. Whiting went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Takahashi went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Juan Ulloa, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coincidentally, Inderkum and Lodi will both be playing Del Campo the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Flames will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
