Luke Snell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Eli Beekley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Robbins, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Cabarrus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Olympic 22-1 on Thursday. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for the Wolverines this season.
Cage Love was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. West Cabarrus is 3-1 when Love posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Will Hollmeyer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
West Cabarrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for West Cabarrus, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.
South Iredell took their win against West Cabarrus in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Iredell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
