In what's become a running theme this season, El Capitan/Centennial Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Seligman with a sharp 65-43 victory. Winning may never get old, but El Capitan/Centennial Academy sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Ethan Hammon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 29 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jairus Hammon, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Carmelo Manakaja and Montae Walker certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Manakaja scored 25 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Walker scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Walker hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games.
Seligman struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as El Capitan/Centennial Academy racked up 20 assists.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Seligman, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan/Centennial Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grand Canyon at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Grand Canyon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Seligman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ash Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ash Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
