East Central is 0-10 against the Knights since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The East Central Hornets will look to defend their home court against the Steele Knights at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, East Central strolled past the Unicorns with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given East Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Unicorns are ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Emery Espinoza, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Leah Mitchell, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Meanwhile, Steele stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by San Marcos at home to the tune of 56-29. The victory was nothing new for Steele as they're now sitting on eight straight.
East Central is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-11 record this season. As for Steele, they pushed their record up to 26-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
