The Mancos Bluejays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Del Norte on Saturday as Mancos made off with a 52-28 victory. Given Mancos' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Del Norte is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mancos' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Eschallier, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Andrew Jaime was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven steals.
Mancos' victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. As for Del Norte, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Mancos will head out on the road to face off against Cedaredge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cedaredge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. Del Norte will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Center at 4:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
