Not much got past Brianna Brenner, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Satellite off the board. With that strong performance, Brenner is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Vera Rodger was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
Meanwhile, everything went Palmer Trinity's way against Gulliver Prep on Tuesday as Palmer Trinity made off with an 8-0 win. Considering the Falcons have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hailey Rodriguez and Emily 'Emmy' Cerda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rodriguez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Cerda didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rodriguez scored two runs and stole Two bases., while Cerda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Melissa Nieves, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsey Cerda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Palmer Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. Key West now has a winning record of 5-4.
Key West took their victory against Palmer Trinity in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3. Will Key West repeat their success, or does Palmer Trinity have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
