McCutcheon hasn't had much luck against Brownsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mavericks will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. McCutcheon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
McCutcheon couldn't beat Plainfield on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Mavericks fell just short of the Quakers by a score of 5-4. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaidynn Peckinpaugh was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Mallorie Beutel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brownsburg got themselves on the board against Ben Davis on Thursday, but Ben Davis never followed suit. They blew past the Giants 10-0. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
Etta Schroering looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brownsburg let Tatum Hunt and Izzy Neal run wild. Hunt went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Neal went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Neal has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashley Slyvia, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Brownsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Davis only posted a batting average of .167.
Brownsburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for McCutcheon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. McCutcheon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
McCutcheon might still be hurting after the 15-4 defeat they got from Brownsburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Mavericks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
