Philipsburg-Osceola came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Penns Valley Area, but Sydnie Dalton wouldn't allow it. The Rams put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday thanks in part to Dalton, who had 14 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Penns Valley Area walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Bald Eagle Area didn't have quite enough to beat Central Cambria on Saturday and fell 3-2.
Bald Eagle Area took Central Cambria into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. The final score came out to 25-12, 18-25, 12-25, 25-23, 15-6.
Penns Valley Area will have to keep a close watch on Nora Eppley and Kinsey Clark, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bald Eagle Area's prior game. Eppley had 13 digs and three aces, while Clark had ten digs.
Penns Valley Area's record now sits at 15-9. As for Bald Eagle Area, their loss dropped their record down to 23-7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Penns Valley Area has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Bald Eagle Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Penns Valley Area suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Bald Eagle Area in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
