The Benjamin Franklin Chargers will head out to take on the Sabino Sabercats at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Benjamin Franklin put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They blew past San Tan Foothills 31-20. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Sabercats: they've now won seven in a row.
Vanessa Delavigne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sabino entered their tilt with Cholla on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Chargers. The result was nothing new for the Sabercats, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Alannis Ochoa was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Ava Carey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Sabino's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benjamin Franklin, their record now sits at 4-6.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Benjamin Franklin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .412. However, it's not like Sabino struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Benjamin Franklin suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Sabino when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can Benjamin Franklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
