The Neumann Celtics will square off against the Everglades City Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neumann is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Neumann's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when LaBelle hitters got past them. The Celtics lost 13-6 to the Cowboys/Cowgirls on Wednesday. The Celtics' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Jesse Camejo and Cecilia Spencer did some serious damage despite the final result: Camejo went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Spencer went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Everglades City). They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over Dunbar on Wednesday. Considering the Gators have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ava Ramos, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Demere, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Everglades City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Everglades City's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10. As for Neumann, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.
Everglades City's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Neumann has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Everglades City, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Neumann keep running through batters, or will the Gators buck the trend?
Everything went Neumann's way against Everglades City when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Neumann made off with a 16-0 win. Do the Celtics have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
