Our Lady Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Union as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
While Our Lady Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-21.

Our Lady Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Knoblock, who had seven digs and two aces. Knoblock has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Myah Favre, who hit 69.2% for 28 kills and 22 assists and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Alcorn Central faced Kossuth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Aggies 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since September 30, 2024.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Alcorn Central who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 12-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-13.
Our Lady Academy's victory bumped their record up to 40-4. As for Alcorn Central, their win bumped their record up to 24-14-1.
Our Lady Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Alcorn Central when the teams last played back in October of 2023, winning 3-1. Will the Crescents repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
