Grace Davis hasn't had much luck against Central Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Grace Davis Spartans will challenge the Central Valley Hawks at 4:00 p.m. This will be Grace Davis' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Grace Davis turned things around against Amador last Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Buffaloes.
Grace Davis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Illiana C, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Central Valley was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Sierra 15-6. Considering the Hawks have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklynn Steeley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Reylena Herrera was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Abigail Krauss was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Central Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra struck out 11 times.
The victory made it two in a row for Central Valley and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs. As for Grace Davis, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Grace Davis might still be hurting after the 15-7 loss they got from Central Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Grace Davis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
