The Winter Springs Bears will take on the Niceville Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Winter Springs sitting on seven straight victories and Niceville on 12.
Winter Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Fort Myers, sneaking past 5-4.
Tiffany Seemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adison Pierce, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Daugherty, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Winter Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Niceville beat St. Thomas Aquinas 7-2 on Thursday.
Niceville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Chloe Bailey gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Bailey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Briana Noles and Natalie Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Noles went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Krissa Troutman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Winter Springs' record is now 23-8. As for Niceville, their record now sits at 22-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Winter Springs has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Niceville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Winter Springs suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Niceville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
