The Elkhorn Antlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 70-42 win over Plattsmouth. Given Elkhorn's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Plattsmouth is ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elkhorn was led to victory by Nixon Farmer and Cole Petersen. Farmer scored 23 points along with six rebounds, while Petersen scored 14 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Petersen also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Charlie Lamski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Elkhorn's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Plattsmouth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhorn won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Boys Town at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Boys Town focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday. Plattsmouth is on the road again on Friday and play against Beatrice at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Beatrice is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
