The Southland Rebels can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They took down Schaeffer Academy 53-36. For Southland, this counts as revenge for the 38-36 loss Schaeffer Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Despite the loss, Schaeffer Academy saw an underclassman step up: Lillian Morrisey dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Morrisey is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Gabriella Buehler was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Southland's win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-16. As for Schaeffer Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
Southland will head out on the road to face off against Spring Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Southland is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Spring Grove is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Schaeffer Academy, they will square off against Grand Meadow at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Schaeffer Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
