The Arlington Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Fort Calhoun at home by a decisive 58-42 margin. Arlington has struggled against the Pioneers recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trent Koger, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Koger grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Burns, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Fort Calhoun's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grayson Bouwman, who scored 20 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Declyn Otte, who scored 13 points.
Arlington's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9. As for Fort Calhoun, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Arlington will challenge the Cougars on Friday. Hopefully Conestoga focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Fort Calhoun, they will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nebraska City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Pioneers are ranked 36th).
