The KIPP Collegiate phoenix will be playing at home against the Trezevant Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: KIPP Collegiate has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while the Bears will arrive with six straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-8, which was the final score in KIPP Collegiate's tilt against the Execs last Monday. While losing is never fun, KIPP Collegiate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Execs are ranked 128th).
Meanwhile, Trezevant strolled past the Red Devils with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-46.
Trezevant relied on the efforts of CIARA THOMAS, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and five blocks, and SHELBY GRAY, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. GRAY hasn't dropped below 19 points for six straight games. MARISSA WILLIAMS was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
KIPP Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Trezevant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
KIPP Collegiate was taken down by the Bears 78-11 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of GRAY, who dropped a triple-double on 28 points, ten assists, and 19 steals. Now that KIPP Collegiate knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
